giphy:

As if you couldn’t be MORE psyched that it’s Friday — Giphy has some exciting news!
We’re proud to announce the launch of Giphy Labs, a playground for our engineering team and friends, and the Giphy API that makes it all possible.
What does this mean to the everyday Giphy user? Simply put: now that we have all these searchable GIFs at our fingertips, we’d like to do something cool with them. Utilizing the Giphy API makes it possible to take our database of GIFs and translate that into apps, games, hacks and…well, the sky’s the limit.
Our Giphy Memory game is a perfect example! It takes a childhood favorite and revamps it using a sampling of our most popular GIF categories. Team Giphy has already spent hours playing it, and now we want you to join in the fun!
We’ll be unveiling more Giphy Labs projects in the coming weeks, so keep a close watch on this Tumblr page. But until then, have fun exploring the site…and we want to see what you come up with using the API, too!

’93 ‘Til Infinity: Ian Jeffrey & Kristen Wawruck + Free Kitten

“’93 ’Til Infinity” asks artists, writers, and New Museum staff to describe favorite records from 1993. Presented in conjunction with the exhibition “NYC 1993,” this series looks back at the ways that music shaped the year, and considers how these records continue to inform culture. “’93 ’Til Infinity” will appear each Friday for the duration of the exhibition. To see past entries in this series, click HERE. For this installment, Ian Jeffrey and Kristen Wawruck discuss Free Kitten.
